About the role#
The Veterans Readiness and Employment Processing Assistant supports the School Student Business Services-Military team. This role helps students navigate their VR&E and Military Tuition Assistance benefits while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and internal policies. This is a part-time, remote position.
What you'll do#
- Field Veterans Readiness and Employment inquiries through phone and virtual channels.
- Assist with reporting student enrollments to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Process VA correspondence and handle administrative tasks related to benefit administration.
- Attend webinars, student orientations, and on-campus training seminars regarding VA Education Benefits.
- Complete other duties as assigned to support Veteran Services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an NU student receiving Veteran Education Benefits under Title 38, U.S.C., Chapters 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 1606, or the Edith N. Rogers STEM Scholarship.
- Enrollment in an approved program at a rate of 3/4 time or greater.
- Good academic standing per the NU Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
- Experience in customer service and relations.
- A fundamental understanding of Veterans Education Benefits.
- Ability to use VA.gov, Ask VA, eBenefits.gov, and the GI Bill Comparison Tool.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and finish projects on time.
- Proficiency in communicating within hybrid work environments.
- Ability to meet employee performance and campus dress code standards.

- Pay: $16.90 per hour.
- Veterans with service-connected disabilities rated at 30 percent or more receive hiring priority.
