About the role#
The Fraud Data Engineering team builds secure and scalable data solutions to support fraud detection, prevention, and analytics. As a Summer Associate, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting data integration, quality, and platform modernization initiatives. You will work directly with large-scale fraud datasets and modern engineering tools to help protect the credit union.
What you'll do#
- Provide analytical and technical support for data integration and platform modernization.
- Assist in preparing data for AI and machine learning by supporting transformation and accessibility efforts.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Fraud Analysts to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
- Enable real-time and batch data integration across enterprise systems.
- Create business requirement documents, build STTMs, and validate fraud-related data.
- Analyze data to identify quality trends and opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Document technical processes, data flows, and engineering solutions.
- Participate in Agile team activities, including planning sessions, standups, and project reviews.
- Contribute to the development of Databricks Notebooks and enhance UAT testing and data validation frameworks.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
- Familiarity with relational databases, data warehousing, and data modeling.
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration.
- Ability to work with large and complex datasets.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical presentation skills.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP is preferred.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Databricks, Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a 12-week, full-time, paid internship running from May 2027 through August 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Vienna, Virginia.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
