About the role#
The Fraud Data Engineering & Governance team provides data solutions that support fraud detection, prevention, and analytics. As a Summer Associate, you will support the team with metadata management, data quality, data profiling, and system analysis. You will gain experience working with large-scale fraud datasets, cloud technologies, and data governance tools.
What you'll do#
- Assist in data readiness for AI by supporting transformation, data quality, and governance efforts.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Fraud Analysts to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
- Advance the department’s AI Governance framework and structures.
- Support fraud business teams with timely, accurate, and actionable data solutions.
- Analyze data to identify quality issues, trends, and opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with enterprise partners to advance data governance initiatives.
- Document technical processes, data flows, and governance outcomes.
- Participate in Agile team activities, including planning sessions, standups, and project reviews.
- Contribute to the development of Databricks Notebooks, enhance data quality monitoring, and support data validation frameworks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology Management, MBA, or a related field.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
- Familiarity with relational databases, data warehousing, and data modeling.
- Understanding of core data governance principles, including metadata management, data lifecycles, data quality, record retention, and privacy.
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Databricks, Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop.
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical presentation skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Vienna, Virginia.
- Term: 12-week internship from May 2027 to August 2027.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Modality: On-site.
