About the role#
The Summer Associate Internship is a 12-week program running from May 2027 through August 2027. You will work within the Procurement and Vendor Management Risk Office to identify, assess, and manage operational risks. This role involves gaining hands-on experience with risk management, governance, and internal controls while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do#
- Assist in conducting operational risk assessments and control evaluations.
- Participate in process walkthroughs to document workflows, risks, and controls.
- Analyze risk data and audit evidence to assess control effectiveness.
- Support issue remediation and closure validation efforts.
- Prepare documentation and work papers to support risk observations and recommendations.
- Develop risk reporting tools, metrics, and dashboards.
- Research emerging operational risk trends and regulatory developments.
- Assist with Third Party Risk Due Diligence and process reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Engage with other Summer Associates and team members to share insights.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Auditing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Basic understanding of business and operating environments.
- Knowledge of risk-based auditing techniques, methodologies, and operational risk control concepts.
- Familiarity with applicable federal and state regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Experience with project management skills.
- Background or academic knowledge of organizational design concepts.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Vienna, Virginia.
- The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EDT.
