About the role#
The Department of Revenue is seeking interns to explore a career in state taxation. This is a temporary, full-time position where you will work under the direct supervision of audit staff and management. You will gain experience in state tax programs while completing meaningful work in an office setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist with audits in the field and in the office.
- Help issue Nebraska tax assessments based on audit results.
- Perform research and data analysis by searching through applicable sources.
- Support the team with other projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or graduation within the last year.
- Preferred majors include Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Completion of 12 hours of post-secondary accounting is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is required. SQL or other programming experience is a plus.
- Exposure to state tax programs is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, plan effectively, and adapt to new assignments.

- Locations: Lincoln, North Platte, Kearney, or Omaha, Nebraska.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
