    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid, 12-week internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced wildlife coordinators at Nemacolin to gain hands-on experience in animal care, training, and guest education. The role combines daily animal husbandry with hospitality, requiring you to work in an environment that includes exotic animals, domestic livestock, horses, and a sled dog team.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide daily animal care, including feeding, diet preparation, enrichment, training, and basic medical support.
    • Lead guest interactions through Animal Ambassador Encounters, guided tours, trail rides, and pony rides.
    • Maintain habitats by cleaning enclosures, upkeeping barns, and performing tasks like clipping and bathing animals.
    • Keep accurate animal records and follow established care protocols.
    • Support daily operations by assisting with scheduling, transportation, and horse mounting or dismounting.
    • Complete an experiential project that involves research and the development of a training plan, enrichment item, or habitat improvement.

    What you'll need#

    • A high school diploma.
    • Current enrollment in or a recent degree from a bachelor program in wildlife, animal science, or a related field.
    • Previous animal care experience is preferred.
    • Fluency in English.
    • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • A commitment to the full 12-week program and adherence to company appearance standards.
