About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to work within the Public Investments Department at Northwestern Mutual. You will join a team managing over $100 billion in assets, including corporate bonds, structured products, and government securities. The program provides hands-on experience through daily investment processes and collaboration with senior investment professionals.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the daily investment operations of one or more credit management teams.
- Create and present market, industry, and company outlooks, as well as forecast models.
- Attend asset class and strategy meetings, including sessions with company management teams and external research analysts.
- Support Senior Analysts, Portfolio Managers, and Traders with various projects.
- Engage in professional development workshops and networking events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master of Business Administration or Master of Science program in Finance, Investments, or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A strong interest in the art and science of investing.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A desire to be challenged and a motivation to learn.
- Preferred experience includes relevant work history, strong Excel skills, data analysis, web scraping, or experience with Bloomberg.

- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $16.50 to $30.00 per hour, based on academic tenure and major.
