About the role#
This internship offers a 10-week, full-time program based in Cincinnati. You will gain exposure to the scrap metal trading and recycling industry while learning how DJJ supports Nucor steel mills. The role involves travel to customer sites, steel mills, and scrap yards, which accounts for approximately 50% of the work schedule. This is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through various departments to understand the full life cycle of steel.
- Shadow experienced commodities traders to learn how they build and maintain customer relationships.
- Collaborate with other interns on assigned projects and present your findings to leadership teams.
- Attend customer meetings, staff meetings, and participate in strategic planning sessions.
- Observe the logistics involved in the scrap and metal trade.
- Uphold and lead safety policies and housekeeping standards in all environments.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student in a business discipline, such as Finance, Marketing, Economics, or Supply Chain Management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of professionalism when working with various industry contacts.
- A valid state Driver's License.
