About the role#
As a Microcontrollers System Engineering Intern, you will work from our Austin office during the summer of 2027. You will report to the Systems Manager and receive mentorship from senior team members. Your primary task is to manage a project from conception through planning and execution to the final product. This project will highlight the capabilities of NXP microprocessors in artificial intelligence and machine learning, specifically focusing on time series and anomaly detection. You will present your final work to the leadership team.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with local and global designers, software developers, and engineers.
- Develop firmware, proofs of concept, applications, demos, and drivers.
- Build innovative functions and use case demonstrators for security and connectivity.
- Perform technical feasibility studies and build reference designs.
- Write application notes, white papers, and developer guides.
- Review reference manuals and data sheets to improve ease-of-use materials.
- Interact with lab technicians to complete project tasks and learn how an engineering office operates.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in the C language.
- Status as a student returning to school or graduating at the end of the internship term.
- Experience with embedded Systems on Chip, specifically ARM Cortex architecture.
- Background in embedded software development and debug.
- Familiarity with operating systems, device drivers, and connectivity stacks like 802.15.4, BLE, Thread, or Zigbee.
- Technical writing skills for documentation such as application notes and user guides.
