About the role#
The Clinical Extern program offers nursing students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience as an unregulated health care provider. You will work within the oncology clinic to support the nursing team, gain clinical understanding, and build your critical thinking skills. This is a part-time, temporary position lasting until approximately March 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform fundamental patient care duties.
- Assist the nursing team with daily operations at the patient care level.
- Work within an interprofessional team environment.
- Support the development of your own clinical skills and understanding.
- Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality for all patients.
- Act as an enthusiastic and reliable student focused on the patient experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing or BScN program, specifically entering your final years of study.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative.
- A satisfactory performance and attendance record.
- Commitment to the core values of respect, compassion, trust, courage, and commitment.
- Ability to work all shifts as necessary.
Location & details#
- Location: Markham, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $21 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts. You must work a minimum of one shift per week.
