About the role#
Pacific Fusion is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. You will own a project through the planning, design, assembly, and testing phases. This role focuses on cradle to grave design and provides hands-on experience building and testing hardware. Your work will directly contribute to the development of our pulser-driven inertial fusion system.
What you'll do#
- Own a project through the planning, design, assembly, and testing phases.
- Perform cradle to grave design for fusion system components.
- Build, wire, debug, and test real hardware.
- Design and operate test setups and experimental hardware.
- Define system architectures and make tradeoffs against requirements.
- Write build instructions, procedures, and test plans.
- Document findings and perform data analysis.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior standing in a 4-year Electrical Engineering or related program.
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals and first principles.
- Working knowledge of circuit analysis, power systems, signals, controls, or embedded systems.
- Experience with schematics, wiring diagrams, and basic system documentation.
- Exposure to tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, CAD for electronics, or Excel.
- 6+ months of prior internship, co-op, or substantial project experience.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity, humility, and a desire to both teach and learn.
- Ability to work full time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
- Must be a U.S. Person to comply with U.S. export control laws.
