About the role#
The Product Engineering Support co-op student assists with the manufacturing and design of products at S&C Electric Canada. You will gain direct experience with engineering design principles and manufacturing techniques while supporting the development team. This role involves working on projects that range from initial concepts through to prototyping and final implementation.
What you'll do#
- Perform design revisions using Solid Edge 3D CAD software.
- Support Development Team projects, with exposure to mechanics, electronics, high power electrical, software, and systems engineering.
- Investigate product designs to ensure they meet customer requirements.
- Assist with product testing, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Manage short-duration projects from the initial concept phase through to prototyping and implementation.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year student in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Strong interest in power systems engineering.
- Ability to commit to an 8-month co-op term from January 2027 to August 2027.
- Structured problem-solving experience and exposure to Lean principles.
- Experience with 3D modelling tools, specifically Solid Edge, and product development testing.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both as a team player and independently under the supervision of a senior team member.
- A quick learning mindset.
Location & details#
- Location: Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Winter 2027 (8 months).
- Compensation: $22.70 - $36.40 per hour, based on year of study, program type, and prior co-op experience.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift or move objects up to 20lbs and perform routine workplace activities like standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs.
