About the role#
The Local Cup is a community coffee shop in the Near Northwest Neighborhood of South Bend. It uses a pay-it-forward model to serve people across all income levels. As a Fellow, you will help run the shop, maintain operations, and mentor teen interns. This position is open to current Saint Mary's College students eligible for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
What you'll do#
- Learn and manage all aspects of coffee shop operations, from opening and drink preparation to closing and cleanup.
- Explain the shop mission and pay-it-forward system to customers.
- Supervise and mentor 1-2 teen interns, providing positive modeling while working together behind the counter.
- Attend weekly Site Leader meetings and bi-weekly leadership training sessions.
- Maintain a friendly atmosphere and follow all health codes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Saint Mary's College with eligibility for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a mature, enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to lead others and work with little direct supervision.
- Reliable access to transportation by car or bicycle.
- Attention to detail and the ability to stay focused during busy shifts.
- Comfort working with people from diverse backgrounds.

- Location: Notre Dame, Indiana.
- Schedule: Mornings on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Status: Full-time, paid position with rolling terms.
