    About the role#

    Schnabel Engineering is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position focuses on applying professional engineering principles to real-world problems under the guidance of senior staff. You will work on-site in Wilmington, North Carolina, gaining practical experience in geotechnical engineering and construction observation.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform geotechnical field work, including subsurface exploration and infiltration testing.
    • Conduct construction observation and materials testing at various job sites.
    • Execute laboratory testing procedures.
    • Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS software.
    • Assist engineers with the preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
    • A valid U.S. driver’s license.
    • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.

    • Location: Wilmington, NC.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
    • Modality: On-site.
