About the role#
Schnabel Engineering is looking for a full-time Civil Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work in Lexington, Kentucky, from May through August. This position focuses on applying engineering principles to real-world projects under the guidance of senior staff. You will gain practical experience through a mix of office tasks and field work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with geotechnical investigations and analyses.
- Design retaining walls and excavation support systems.
- Conduct hydrology and hydraulic studies.
- Prepare construction plans for various projects.
- Perform construction observation and materials testing in the field.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- A valid driver’s license, as driving is required for this role.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to pass a background check, including criminal history, motor vehicle records, and a credit check.
