About the role#
As an Environmental & Regulatory Student, you will support the team with environmental compliance, regulatory initiatives, land coordination, and Indigenous Relations activities. This role involves hands-on experience with environmental monitoring programs, regulatory applications, permitting, and land administration. You will work alongside experienced professionals to ensure the company operates in compliance with regulatory requirements across Western Canada.
What you'll do#
- Support environmental compliance and monitoring activities.
- Develop and maintain plans for Remedial Action Plan commitments using AER OneStop.
- Manage the groundwater monitoring portfolio, including data tracking, scheduling, and field coordination.
- Liaise with environmental consultants and laboratories, including preparing and issuing quote requests.
- Track project budgets and identify variances.
- Review environmental monitoring reports.
- Research and summarize environmental legislation and regulatory changes.
- Assist with regulatory applications, documentation, and permit rollouts.
- Coordinate One Calls and digitize land records and files.
- Support Indigenous Relations activities and track engagement.
- Update and maintain the Master Approvals Sheet and develop a legal registry.
- Support five-year Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) budget updates.
- Perform data entry, analysis, and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum one year of study completed.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with consultants, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Interest in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, land management, and environmental stewardship.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
