About the role#
The Operator Student role provides hands-on support to our facilities in the Lloydminster area. You will assist with oilfield waste management, waste and oil treatment, water clarification, and water injection operations. Working alongside experienced Operators, you will gain practical knowledge of facility processes, equipment, and safe operating practices. This position offers exposure to operational planning and the financial aspects of the business based on your development throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Support the safe, day-to-day operation of waste treatment, oil treatment, water clarification, and water injection activities.
- Manage seasonal requirements, including leachate management, stormwater pond maintenance, and vegetation control.
- Assist with truck unloading for oil emulsion, water, and vacuum trucks.
- Support water injection activities, filter changes, and basic pump maintenance.
- Help with boiler operations, testing, and steam system activities.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly plant inspections and checks.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and general housekeeping.
- Interact professionally with customers to provide quality service.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures, permitting requirements, and hazard assessments.
- Complete necessary safety and operational documentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary institution, specifically in Industrial Engineering.
- High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid and acceptable Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation.
- Current safety certifications including H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, WHMIS, and TDG.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to follow directions, work under supervision, and progressively develop independence.
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment testing, including a Medical and/or Alcohol and Drug test for this safety-sensitive role.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Submission of a cover letter and recent transcripts.
