    About the role#

    The CyberSOC Co-op role involves daily operations within our 24x7 Security Operations Center. You will work with a variety of security tool sets and support diverse client organizations. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, typically scheduled over five consecutive days. You may be assigned to any of our three daily shifts, and your schedule will include either Saturday or Sunday.

    What you'll do#

    • Monitor and triage security alerts across endpoint, network, identity, and cloud telemetry.
    • Investigate alerts to determine severity, scope, and whether activity is benign, suspicious, or malicious.
    • Perform initial incident response support, including evidence collection and timeline development.
    • Use SIEM, EDR, NDR/NSM, and SOAR platforms to detect and respond to threats.
    • Leverage threat intelligence and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK to enrich investigations.
    • Document all work in case management systems, including investigation steps and recommended actions.
    • Communicate status and findings to leadership and clients.
    • Help improve operations by identifying noisy alerts and providing feedback for tuning.
    • Maintain proficiency through training and labs while protecting confidential information.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity programs.
    • Demonstrated passion for technology and interest in personal growth.
    • Coursework or experience in incident investigation, forensics, information security, or networking.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while managing independent responsibilities.
    • Familiarity with common log sources and security concepts.
    • Comfort learning new tools and following documented processes.
    • Interest in automation or scripting, such as PowerShell or Python.
    • Punctuality, attention to detail, and flexibility to accommodate changing schedules.
    • Possession of security certifications is a plus.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based in Hawaii.
    • Work modality is hybrid, with an expectation to work in-person 4 out of 5 days per week.
    • Residence in the Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time zone is preferred.
    • This is a paid, full-time position.
