About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship at a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store in Calgary. You will work directly with an Associate-Owner to gain practical experience in a community pharmacy setting. This role is designed to prepare future pharmacists for the realities of retail practice while supporting the health and wellness needs of the community.
What you'll do#
- Deliver health, beauty, and convenience services to customers.
- Provide an exceptional shopping experience for pharmacy customers.
- Learn about the expanding roles of the community pharmacist.
- Acknowledge all customers who approach the pharmacy.
- Ensure all privacy requirements, customer confidentiality, and consent management protocols are met.
- Develop skills necessary to manage a retail pharmacy, including patient counseling and disease state management.
- Enhance communication skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant program such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Public Health, or Health Administration.
- Knowledge of OTC products and an interest in drug therapy.
- A commitment to maintaining privacy and professional standards.
