    About the role#

    The Southwest Florida Water Management District is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Student Intern to join the Data Collection Bureau. This role supports the laboratory team by performing routine maintenance and data management tasks. You will work on-site at our Brooksville office. This is a paid, year-round internship with a schedule of up to 25 hours per week, which can be adjusted based on your academic commitments.

    What you'll do#

    • Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    • Manage the physical inventory of samples throughout their life cycle, from receipt to disposal.
    • Clean laboratory benches and work stations, including glassware washing and preparation for analysis.
    • Monitor and record laboratory equipment temperatures on a daily basis.
    • Assist the laboratory staff with various team-oriented tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Current enrollment in an accredited college, university, or vocational program.
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Ability to operate a District vehicle for two hours or more at a time.
    • Preferred majors include Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Brooksville, Florida.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $16.00 per hour.
    • Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week, typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
