About the role#
Specter Aerospace is looking for a Propulsion Design Engineering Co-op to contribute to the development and testing of hypersonic propulsion systems. This role involves a 4-6 month cycle where you will take ownership of hardware from initial design through testing. You will work alongside full-time staff on projects critical to our mission.
What you'll do#
- Manage propulsion subsystem development from ideation to first-article test and characterization.
- Design and manufacture engine components, test stand hardware, and piping systems using in-house machining capabilities.
- Conduct engine and component testing in a direct-connect hypersonic testing facility.
- Write analysis code in Python or MATLAB for thermofluids and propulsion performance.
- Join design reviews and technical discussions with multidisciplinary vehicle sub-system groups.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Comfort with project autonomy and design ownership.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
