    About the role#

    Specter Aerospace is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op for a 4-6 month term starting in Spring 2027. You will join the vehicle development team to work on hypersonic flight vehicles. We provide our co-ops with the same project ownership and resources as our full-time staff. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on projects that support our flight testing and production goals.

    What you'll do#

    • Design parts and subsystems for hypersonic flight vehicles.
    • Create drawings for manufacturing release.
    • Own specific vehicle subsystems and manage their development.
    • Perform analysis of components within a flight vehicle.
    • Design and manufacture components.
    • Collaborate across disciplines to optimize flight systems to meet performance requirements.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering program.
    • Prior experience with CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
    • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles like statics, materials, and thermo/fluids.
    • Hands-on experience from a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
    • Ability to work with project autonomy.
    • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
    • Familiarity with GD&T, FEA/CFD, or amateur rocketry is a plus.

    • Location: Peabody, Massachusetts.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Employment type: Full-time co-op.
    • Compensation: $23-$30 per hour.
