About the role#
Specter Aerospace is hiring a Propulsion Test Engineering Co-op for a 4-6 month term. You will contribute to the development and testing of hypersonic propulsion systems, including ramjet and scramjet engine hardware. You will work alongside full-time staff, taking ownership of projects from initial design through to characterization. This role is based on-site in Peabody, Massachusetts. Note that we also hire Propulsion Design Engineer Co-ops from this same application.
What you'll do#
- Take ownership of propulsion subsystem and component development from ideation to first-article testing.
- Conduct engine and component testing in a direct-connect hypersonic facility.
- Design and manufacture engine components, test stand hardware, and piping or tubing systems.
- Write code in Python or MATLAB to analyze thermofluids and propulsion performance.
- Join design reviews and technical discussions with multidisciplinary vehicle teams.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Hands-on experience gained in a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
- A solid grasp of core mechanical engineering principles, specifically thermofluids.
- You must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
