About the role#
Specter Aerospace is hiring a Vehicle Design Co-Op for a 4 to 6 month term. You will join the vehicle design team to work on hypersonic flight vehicles. We provide our co-ops with the same resources and project ownership as our full-time staff. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists on projects that support our mission.
What you'll do#
- Design systems and parts for hypersonic flight vehicles.
- Create drawings for manufacturing release.
- Own specific vehicle subsystems.
- Analyze components within a flight vehicle.
- Integrate subsystems into larger systems to ensure proper fit and functionality.
- Collaborate across disciplines to optimize flight systems for performance requirements.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Prior experience using CAD software, with SolidWorks preferred.
- A fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles such as statics, materials, and thermo/fluids.
- Hands-on experience in a technical shop, lab, or student organization.
- Comfort with project autonomy.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Preferred experience includes amateur rocketry, GD&T, FEA/CFD, DFAM/DFM, and large assembly builds.
