About the role#
Specter Aerospace is hiring an Image Processing Co-op for a 4 to 6 month cycle. You will join a project focused on infrared and optical imaging demonstrators. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to process sensor data, build analysis tools, and evaluate the performance of imaging systems for flight vehicle programs. This role provides direct project ownership and access to the same resources as our full-time staff.
What you'll do#
- Write Python code to process, analyze, and visualize infrared and visible-spectrum sensor data.
- Build computer-vision algorithms for tasks like image enhancement, segmentation, detection, feature extraction, and tracking.
- Manage and organize large sensor datasets.
- Assist with the calibration, testing, and evaluation of imaging systems.
- Create testing protocols to perform software shakedowns, debug analysis tools, and validate results.
- Participate in technical meetings and manage assigned projects from initial implementation through documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
- Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, C++, or a similar language.
- Familiarity with image processing, numerical analysis, computer vision, or data analysis.
- Ability to work independently when requirements change.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Peabody, Massachusetts.
- The term for this co-op is Summer 2027.
