About the role#
Highway Equipment Co. is looking for an Engineering Intern to support our production team in Cedar Rapids. This role involves hands-on work in a manufacturing environment, where you will assist with design updates, tooling, and technical troubleshooting. You will work directly with our engineering and sales teams to keep our production processes moving.
What you'll do#
- Support daily production needs, including blueprint updates and design fit issues.
- Evaluate design alternatives from suppliers and propose solutions for technical problems.
- Execute the engineering change process and implement manufacturing change requests.
- Create CAD models for design updates and assist with model layout updates in our vault.
- Support sales and service teams with product upgrades and customer-specific requests.
- Complete assigned engineering projects on time while following all safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Mechanical, Systems, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering.
- A GPA of 2.7 or higher.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and solid modeling software.
- Strong skills in organization, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Location & details#
- Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Physical requirements: The role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. You will spend time in both office and shop environments, where you must follow safety procedures including the use of protective gear.
