About the role#
The Accounting Intern supports our accounting team by analyzing product costs and documenting manufacturing processes. You will help create standard labor times and assist the team with month-end close procedures. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze standard cost integrity.
- Manage data within accounting and financial systems to support report generation.
- Perform cost and variance analysis.
- Document manufacturing processes to understand cost impacts.
- Work with the Purchasing department to evaluate how supplier pricing affects financials.
- Respond to inquiries and collaborate with other departments to resolve problems.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols while working on-site.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance (Junior or Senior status preferred).
- Basic understanding of general accounting principles and cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPS and pivot tables.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
Location & details#
- Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This role requires regular time at a computer, as well as occasional visits to the shop floor. When in the shop area, you must wear required safety gear, including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
