About the role#
Stantec is hiring a Transportation Engineering Co-op or Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position based in our New York office. You will work alongside our roadway design and traffic engineering teams on various technical projects. This role is primarily office-based, though you may perform occasional field work to collect data, which could involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with transportation impact studies, report preparation, and travel demand modeling.
- Collect traffic data from public sources and through site visits.
- Analyze data using Microsoft Excel, Python, and MySQL.
- Conduct traffic analyses using HCS, Synchro, and VISSIM software.
- Support travel demand model calibration, validation, and scenario analysis within Cube and TransCAD.
- Provide general support to the broader engineering team on assigned technical tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Urban Planning, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
- Experience or interest in transportation software like HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Cube, and TransCAD is preferred.
