    About the role#

    The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a student intern to support the Roadway Design team in DeLand. This position runs during the Fall 2026 semester, from August through December. You will work 10 hours per week in an on-site capacity.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the preparation of project documentation, including scopes of work, estimate summaries, and design notes.
    • Assist with various aspects of design and project development.
    • Use computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software to prepare plan sheets, project illustrations, and 3D models.
    • Review design criteria, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance with department guidelines.
    • Research and apply agency design standards, policies, and procedures to assigned tasks.
    • Attend internal meetings and observe coordination with consultants, local agencies, and other project stakeholders.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a Civil Engineering student at the junior, senior, or graduate level.
    • Strong interest in engineering.
    • Solid organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or an authorized alien worker.

    • Location: DeLand, Florida.
    • Term: Fall 2026 (August to December).
    • Compensation: $15.00 per hour.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
