About the role#
Syska Hennessy Group is hiring a Lighting Design Summer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in New York. You will work alongside our lighting design team to develop project designs and gain hands-on experience through our Intern Education Program, which includes site visits and technical lunch-and-learn sessions.
What you'll do#
- Prepare AutoCAD and Revit drawings for lighting design systems.
- Assist the design team with documentation and technical calculations using AGI software.
- Create conceptual lighting design presentations using Photoshop.
- Join designers for field investigations and construction site visits to verify compliance with project documents.
- Attend industry events and participate in lunch-and-learns hosted by lighting manufacturers.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least in your second year of a bachelor's degree program in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or Architectural Engineering.
- Proficiency or working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, AGI, Photoshop, and MS Office Suite.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in lighting is a significant benefit.
- You enjoy working in a team environment but can also handle tasks independently.
