About the role#
As an EOPS/CARE/NextUp Peer Mentor, you will guide fellow students through their experience at Taft College. You will use your own background and success strategies to help others navigate their academic journey. This is a paid, on-site student worker position for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Meet with EOPS students to discuss their progress and connect them with relevant campus services.
- Handle general inquiries and answer incoming phone calls.
- Manage administrative tasks including scanning documents, processing mail, and maintaining student records.
- Support outreach and recruitment events for program-eligible students.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least 6 units at Taft College.
- Status as an EOPS, CARE, NextUp, or CalWORKs student.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Ability to maintain enrollment and good academic standing throughout your employment.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Psychology, Sociology, or Human Resources.
