About the role#
As a Student Senator, you represent the student body within the Associated Student Organization (ASO) at Taft College. You will participate in shared governance, amplify student voices, and support campus initiatives. This role helps you build leadership and communication skills while contributing to the campus community.
What you'll do#
- Serve on at least one, and no more than two, campus committees to represent student perspectives.
- Attend all assigned committee meetings and contribute to discussions and planning.
- Create organized notes for every committee meeting you attend.
- Share your notes with ASO leadership before the next ASO meeting.
- Deliver a verbal report at ASO meetings to summarize committee actions.
- Collaborate with fellow Senators and the Student Trustee.
- Support ASO events and outreach efforts.
- Uphold college policies and ASO bylaws.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Taft College student.
- Completion of at least 6 units.
- Good academic and disciplinary standing per college policies.
- Ability to attend weekly ASO meetings.
- Availability to attend committee meetings as scheduled.

- Location: Taft, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Cannot exceed 10 hours per month.
- Status: Paid student worker position.
- Term: Rolling.
