About the role#
This internship focuses on pipeline safety compliance within the PHMSA Compliance Department. You will support our efforts to meet federal and state safety regulations (49 CFR Parts 190-199). This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Learn MOP/MAOP confirmation processes.
- Assist with audit preparation by reviewing records and procedures.
- Support the refinement of agency inspection and enforcement response processes.
- Create training and testing tools from O&M procedures using AI.
- Gain exposure to PHMSA rules, regulations, and interdepartmental collaboration.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering degree program, including Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, Biomedical, Environmental, or Computer Engineering.
- Expected graduation between December 2026 and May 2028.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with process flow diagrams.
- CAD knowledge is preferred.

- The role is based in Lakewood, Colorado.
- This position follows an on-site or hybrid work modality.
- The internship runs for 10 weeks from May through August 2027.
- Compensation ranges from $26.18 to $37.09 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
