About the role#
This is a paid, full-time, 40-hour per week internship for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in store leadership by working alongside an Executive Team Leader mentor. The program provides a realistic preview of the Assistant Store Manager role, focusing on team management, retail operations, and guest service. You will spend your time on the sales floor and in the backroom, learning how to drive business results and motivate a team.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support daily operations by working with team members to achieve goals.
- Provide guest service, including problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Partner with store leaders to teach, coach, and train team members on performance.
- Plan daily goals and organize tasks within the store.
- Lead and present at daily huddles with peer and leadership teams.
- Review business reports and guest insights to identify and troubleshoot areas for improvement.
- Assist with merchandising, stocking shelves, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in retail management.
- Leadership skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to learn and adapt to store technology and handheld scanners.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and access all areas of the building.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Marketing, Human Resources, or Communications.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role located in Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Davenport, Iowa City, Cedar Falls, or Coralville, Iowa, as well as Galesburg or Moline, Illinois.
