About the role#
This is a full-time Reliability Engineer Co-Op or Internship position based at the K2 mine site in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. The term runs from January 11, 2027, to December 17, 2027. You will work on special projects alongside engineers to improve asset reliability and plant availability. This role involves assessing the condition of existing assets and documenting findings to support plant operations.
What you'll do#
- Investigate equipment failures to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Use problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Why to troubleshoot issues.
- Evaluate equipment and process performance against design specifications.
- Design, size, and validate new equipment or modifications to existing systems.
- Improve preventative maintenance plans by incorporating precision maintenance practices.
- Analyze data to identify reliability improvements, cost reductions, and OEE gains.
- Review historical design methods and drawings to inform asset integrity decisions.
- Communicate with management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Participate in department meetings and project-specific assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in your third year or higher of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems by January 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 72%.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, which includes occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs, working at heights, lifting up to 25 lbs, and wearing a respirator.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, school organizations, or previous work, including prior internships or co-ops.
- Selected candidates must successfully complete a drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination.

- Location: Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, typically 36-40 hours per week, with a 9/80 schedule if applicable.
- Housing and relocation support may be provided for qualified candidates.
