About the role#
This position offers respiratory therapy students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience. You will work under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist to support patient care activities across various developmental levels, from neonatal to geriatric. This is a paid, on-site role based in Kansas City.
What you'll do#
- Administer and monitor respiratory care for inpatients and outpatients.
- Assess the effectiveness of treatments and apply respiratory care protocols using independent judgment.
- Educate patients and their families on cardio-respiratory topics, medications, and equipment.
- Communicate with patients, physicians, and other health system staff to ensure safe and efficient care.
- Assist with patient ambulation and move ventilators or other equipment throughout the campus.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of at least two semesters of clinical training in an associate or baccalaureate degree program in Respiratory Care.
- A current Student License from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- An active RCP student permit license from the State of Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
- Ideally, you have finished all basic science courses required for the RRT credential.
