About the role#
The Washington Post is seeking college students for the newsroom flagship summer internship program. As a Digital Desk Editor, you will work alongside staff journalists to produce content for our digital platforms. This is a full-time, paid position based at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Edit stories across news, features, and enterprise sections with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
- Write and refine headlines, summaries, and photo captions specifically for digital audiences.
- Program content for the homepage and mobile app to shape the reader experience.
- Report and write original articles.
- Produce visual content, including taking photographs, shooting and editing video, and creating graphics.
What you'll need#
- You must be a college junior, senior, or graduate student currently enrolled in a degree program. Relevant fields include Journalism, Communications, English, or Media Studies.
- A strong grasp of style, grammar, and sentence structure.
- Ability to edit text for clarity and flow.
- Ability to maintain composure and work effectively under intense deadlines.
- A commitment to journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness.
