    About the role#

    The Washington Post is hiring for the Newsroom Summer Internship Program. This role is for a Print Desk Editor. You will join the newsroom for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside professional journalists and take on responsibilities similar to a staff member.

    What you'll do#

    • Edit stories covering news, features, and enterprise topics.
    • Write and refine headlines and photo captions specifically for print readers.
    • Maintain high standards for accuracy, clarity, fairness, and accessibility in all work.
    • Participate in the newsroom flagship summer internship program.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student in a degree program. Journalism, Communications, or English majors are preferred.
    • A strong grasp of grammar, style, and sentence structure.
    • Ability to edit for clarity, accuracy, and journalistic rigor.
    • A calm approach to working under intense deadlines.

    • This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Washington, District of Columbia.
    • The internship takes place in Summer 2027.
