About the role#
This is a part-time, paid internship for a Mechanical Designer at Trane Technologies in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The position supports our engineering team by creating designs and managing technical documentation. This role is open to students currently enrolled in relevant associate degree programs and may continue until graduation.
What you'll do#
- Create designs and documentation using computer design and product life cycle management systems.
- Manage documentation for parts and bills of materials.
- Follow standard design and drafting practices.
- Complete assignments based on engineering instructions, schematics, drawings, and sketches.
- Check your own work for errors and ensure assignments are completed accurately.
- Maintain your skills in computer-aided graphic systems through company training.
- Follow all safety and security policies.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited technical school for a mechanical, architectural, electrical, or electronic design associate's degree.
- A firm intention to complete your degree program.
- Basic knowledge of equipment design, drafting, and computer-aided design.
- Experience with computer-aided graphic systems.
- The ability to work well within a technical engineering team.
Location & details#
- Location: La Crosse, Wisconsin. Applicants must be located in the La Crosse area.
- Schedule: This role is on-site Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location option on Fridays.
- Hours: You must be able to work at least 3-hour shifts. During the school year, you will work 10 to 20 hours per week. During summer and holidays, you may work up to 40 hours per week. Business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
