    About the role#

    TransCore is hiring a Fiber Optic Splicing Intern for a 6-month temporary position based in Tampa, Florida. This program moves from foundational field skills to the testing and splicing of fiber networks. You will learn to handle tools, manage cable preparation, and perform installations. Depending on performance and business needs, this role may lead to full-time employment.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with splice enclosure preparation.
    • Support butt and mid-sheath splicing activities.
    • Use OTDRs, light sources, and power meters to verify continuity and splice quality.
    • Generate and review bidirectional OTDR reports to diagnose signal loss and validate network performance.

    What you'll need#

    • A clean driving record and a valid US driver's license.
    • Attention to detail.
    • A curious mindset and willingness to learn.
    • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like kneeling, crouching, or climbing.

    • This is an on-site position in Tampa, Florida.

    • Work involves exposure to outdoor weather, traffic, and mechanical parts.
