About the role#
The University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) is hiring a Social Media Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports SOFWERX, a venue focused on collaboration and technology innovation. You will serve as a USF IAE temporary employee and a student intern. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the funding and potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information.
What you'll do#
- Manage the social media calendar in alignment with the communications plan.
- Create content for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor and respond to online activity to increase engagement.
- Coordinate marketing efforts, including direct mail, print ads, and digital outreach.
- Produce and format the weekly internal digital newsletter.
- Conduct weekly market research and submit required entries regarding new technologies and organizations.
- Assist with clerical tasks, event support, and special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program at an accredited local university.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong organizational, technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with WordPress, Mail Chimp, Social Media Management tools, and Big Contacts.
- Ability to maintain high levels of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Tampa, Florida.
- The role is on-site with limited remote work opportunities.
- You must be available between 15 and 20 hours per week during the Fall semester.
- The pay rate is $17.00 per hour.
