    About the role#

    The Advanced Visualization Center (AVC) at the University of South Florida is hiring a Student Developer. This role is open to students, with a preference for sophomores or younger. You will work up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule to accommodate your classes. The position focuses on rapid prototyping to help faculty, students, and staff explore new technologies.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop prototypes to introduce new technologies to the university community.
    • Research and test emerging technologies to determine if they meet user needs.
    • Create a wide variety of applications, such as full stack websites, data visualizations, mobile apps, and Unity AR/VR projects.
    • Perform general technical tasks, including setting up and managing multiple VR headsets.
    • Work on projects involving AI model training, computer vision, and microcontrollers.

    What you'll need#

    • Basic programming knowledge and aptitude.
    • Ability to work independently to research and learn new technologies.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and produce working prototypes on short time-frames.
    • Ability to organize and communicate development processes.
    • Willingness to work collaboratively.
    • Preferred skills include experience with Git, Adobe Suite, graphic design, 3D modeling, animation, or custom AI models.

    Location & details#

    • Location: AVC XR Lab (SCA 222), Tampa, Florida.
    • Pay: $15.09 per hour.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • This is a temporary student position. You must have current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
