About the role#
The Institute of Applied Engineering at the University of South Florida is hiring a Software Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports specialized programs directed by Accenture Federal Services technical leadership. You will contribute to research, analysis, and tool development that improves operational decision-making and resource allocation for Department of Defense efforts. Upon hire, you will be considered both a USF IAE temporary employee and an AFS student intern.
What you'll do#
- Design, prototype, and test software systems focused on cybersecurity.
- Build, deploy, and maintain applications and infrastructure within the AWS Cloud.
- Work alongside AFS engineers to develop tools that improve operational efficiency and software readiness.
- Document technical findings, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with program management tasks, including tracking workflow progress, organizing project artifacts, and preparing briefings.
What you'll need#
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to Department of Defense funding.
- Junior or Senior standing pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Experience with Python, Java, and Javascript is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 15 to 20 hours per week during the semester.
- Compensation: $17.62 per hour.
