About the role#
The Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) at the University of South Florida is seeking an Information Engineering Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports Department of Defense-funded programs and provides hands-on experience with software systems, data science, and program management. You will work alongside engineers and data scientists to solve complex problems.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with AFS engineers and data scientists.
- Develop business analytic methodologies and tools to support resourcing decisions.
- Design, prototype, and test software systems.
- Build user-friendly interfaces to display analyzed data and AI model outputs.
- Perform program management functions to support program development.
What you'll need#
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Junior or Senior standing at a local accredited university.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with software design or application development.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.50 per hour.
- Commitment: 15 to 20 hours per week during the Fall semester.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time student internship.
