About the role#
Ridgewood Animal Hospital in Forest, Virginia, is seeking a veterinary extern to join our team. We are a full-service clinic for household pets serving the Forest and Lynchburg areas. This externship provides an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment alongside a team of 8 skilled licensed veterinary technicians and experienced veterinarians. The position is paid and includes a stipend to offset housing and travel costs.
What you'll do#
- Participate in clinical training as an extern.
- Engage with the veterinary team in a collaborative environment.
- Learn diagnostic work-up of complex medical cases.
- Observe and assist with wellness care and vaccinations.
- Observe and assist with routine surgeries including spaying and neutering.
- Observe and assist with complex soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
- Engage in Fear Free patient care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited veterinary school pursuing a VMD or DVM degree.

- This role is located on-site in Forest, Virginia.
