About the role#
Reporting to a Trader on Securities Lending, you will work on a front-office desk managing inventory across our lending book. This is a hands-on position where you take ownership of daily operations and build solutions that help us scale. This is an 8-month internship term running from January 11, 2027, to August 27, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Own the entire return process by ensuring proper booking, settlement, and daily inventory balance across counterparties.
- Monitor recall notifications, corporate action instructions, and contract compare breaks to prevent financial discrepancies.
- Act as a central connector between front-office trading, Treasury, Middle Office, and Engineering teams.
- Participate in client and counterparty engagements and provide general trade desk support.
- Build automation and workflow tools using Google Apps Scripts, SQL, and spreadsheets to eliminate manual friction.
- Troubleshoot breakdowns in daily functions, identify blockers, and implement solutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Year 3 or 4 of a Canadian post-secondary program or technical bootcamp, or graduation within the last 6 months.
- Major in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL, including the ability to build macros, complex formulas, and Google Apps Scripts.
- Basic understanding of financial markets, margin, and securities lending mechanics.
- Ability to thrive in a high-velocity, live trading environment and manage changing market conditions.
- Coachability, ambition, and the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- You must be available to work full-time market hours from 7am to 5pm EST.
- This role is hybrid. You must reside in Canada and be able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Tuesdays and Wednesdays or Thursdays.
