About the role#
Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. is hiring interns for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship for students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, architectural engineering, or building science. You will work alongside experts to solve problems in the built world, gaining hands-on experience through field visits, laboratory work, and project collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Assist project teams with on-site investigations, condition assessments, and construction observations.
- Document distress, perform field testing, gather data, and collect test samples.
- Prepare site visit reports and organize field data.
- Research modern and historic construction documents, building codes, and design guidelines.
- Perform analysis under the guidance of licensed professionals using engineering calculations and software.
- Assist in preparing preliminary and final client deliverables, including structural and architectural construction drawings, specifications, and reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate program as a junior or senior.
- Pursuit of a degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, architectural engineering, or building science.
- Excellent academic standing.
- Strong verbal, graphical, and written communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for problem-solving and curiosity about how things work.
- Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and work ethic.
- Ability to travel and work at heights.
- Medical fitness to utilize respiratory protection devices and other personal protective equipment.
