About the role#
The Regulatory team at Xcel Energy is seeking an intern to support the integration of AI and automation tools into daily operations. This role focuses on streamlining internal processes, conducting research, and assisting with the development of operational plans. The position is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop AI agents to automate administrative tasks.
- Build automation to track and update internal systems.
- Use AI tools to review, polish, and improve written documents and presentations.
- Update and refine existing agents to improve their functionality.
- Support the implementation of new AI and automation tools.
- Streamline internal processes and conduct research to support operational planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a Junior or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Information Systems, or Project Management.
- Proven ability to create, edit, and design AI or automation tools using programs like CoPilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.

- Location: Denver, Colorado.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
- Pay: $20.90 to $22.10 per hour.
