About the role#
Young Life Military offers an internship for individuals to serve in youth ministry at a military installation. You will work alongside an experienced staff member to lead Club Beyond. This role focuses on building community with military teens, modeling a personal example of faith, and creating spaces where teens can build friendships and find support. This is a paid position, and you will be expected to live near the community where you serve.
What you'll do#
- Lead and conduct Club Beyond club meetings and small group ministry for teens.
- Meet weekly with supervising staff to review progress and goals.
- Develop a 90-day personal growth plan to foster your spiritual life.
- Attend Chapel on the installation.
- Attend volunteer leader meetings and meet weekly with a volunteer to discuss their involvement.
- Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a diverse leadership team.
- Assist with community outreach to unchurched teens and lead discipleship for believing teens.
- Communicate monthly updates to your personal donor partners and discuss raising financial support with your supervisor.
- Act as a role model for teens and embrace the local military culture.
What you'll need#
- You must have graduated high school at least 2 years ago.
- A deep love for Christ and for teens.
- Strong initiative and an energetic approach to ministry.
- A teachable heart and the ability to communicate well.
- Willingness to raise part of your budget through personal financial support.
- Commitment to a relational ministry approach.
- Experience or skills in small event planning.
- Majors in Psychology, Sociology, History, or Philosophy are relevant to this work.
