About the role#
The Impact Scholars program is hiring two student ambassadors to document the cohort experience. You will serve as a photographer and content contributor, helping to increase the visibility of program activities through authentic storytelling. This is a part-time position open only to current first-year or sophomore students in good standing with Impact Scholars.
What you'll do#
- Attend designated cohort and Honors & Scholars events to capture candid and posed photographs.
- Submit organized, edited, and labeled photo files after events.
- Recommend photos for use in newsletters, social media, and promotional materials.
- Coordinate with peers to gather content when you cannot attend an event yourself.
- Obtain necessary photo permissions and follow university privacy guidelines.
- Communicate regularly with staff regarding content needs and upcoming coverage.
- Represent the program professionally when interacting with faculty, students, and partners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a first-year or sophomore student in the Impact Scholars program.
- Ability to take clear, engaging photos using a smartphone or camera.
- Strong attention to detail and a reliable, responsive communication style.
- Comfort interacting with peers to request photo contributions.
- Enthusiasm for supporting the Impact Scholars community.
- Experience with photography, graphic design, or social media content creation is preferred.
- Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook is a plus.
- Basic skills in mobile or desktop photo editing applications.

- Location: American University main campus, Washington, DC.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Part-time, approximately 2 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
